Clover is fun to draw. This lesson could also be called How to Draw a Shamrock because the shamrock is a three-leafed clover. It is also known as a symbol of Ireland. You could draw a shamrock in honor of St. Patrick's Day.

When I was a kid, I used to love to plop down in a patch of green and look for four-leafed clovers or make necklaces by attaching one bloom to another. Clovers remind me of lazy summer afternoons and I often find myself doodling pictures of them when I am talking on the phone or sitting in meetings. You will have fun drawing them too, so grab a pencil and a permanent marker along with some watercolor pencils and a paint brush. Now let's get started with the How to Draw Clover step by step drawing tutorial.
Clover Drawing Tutorial Part 1: Draw a shape that looks like a cross between a heart and a triangle. Now draw two more, with the pointy parts almost touching in the middle.

Clover Drawing Tutorial Part 2: Now you are going to connect the three shapes in the middle with lines and add a stem to your clover where the leaves connect.

Clover Drawing Tutorial Part 3: Draw a line down the middle of each leaf.

Clover Drawing Tutorial Part 4: Starting at the pointy part of the leaf, make tiny lines on each side of the leaf's middle line so that it forms a V shape. Make these lines until you fill up each leaf, creating a ribbed texture.

Clover Drawing Tutorial Part 5: A little less than halfway down on each leaf, make a thick zigzag line that goes down in a wide V shape to the edges of the leaf.

Clover Drawing Tutorial Part 6: With watercolor pencils, color the zigzag portion yellow, the stem green and color every other stripe on the leaf green.

Clover Drawing Tutorial Part 7: Dip your brush in clear water and blend your colors on the clover.

Clover Drawing Tutorial Part 8: Fill in the background with the color of your choice and blend with clear water. If desired, once the paper is dry, outline the clover in permanent marker.
